Halloween 2024 brought out the creative spirit of the Cochrane Camera Club (CCC) as members ventured to Heritage Park for an unforgettable experience at Ghouls Night Out, Thursday October 24, 2024. Known for its vintage charm, the park took on an eerie atmosphere, providing endless photo opportunities and a true Halloween spectacle.
The evening kicked off with stunning sunset photoshoots over the reservoir, where members captured the fading daylight casting its warm glow over the Glenmore Reservoir, also providing a hauntingly beautiful backdrop against the heritage buildings. The park’s old-fashioned buildings and ghost-town ambiance created a nostalgic atmosphere, lending an extra layer of intrigue to each shot.
With actors dressed as spooky characters, including a haunting doll darting through the forest and a zombie contortionist twisting and crawling, every corner held a unique subject to photograph. These characters added a layer of thrill and surprise as club members practiced capturing the fast-moving action, blending the art of photography with the adrenaline of Halloween chills.
Another highlight was the light photography opportunities; as dusk deepened, many buildings lit up in eerie hues, casting long shadows and creating dramatic contrasts. Members experimented with different techniques to capture the interplay of fog, light and dark, further enhancing the spooky, surreal atmosphere.
This Halloween-inspired outing allowed CCC members to have fun and hone their skills and creatively celebrate the season, capturing moments that combine the magic of photography with the thrill of the holiday.
Heritage Park’s Ghouls Night Out gave CCC members a chance to blend different styles of photography: cosplay; vintage architecture; street photography; landscape; and light play in a haunting setting perfect for Halloween memories.
