Turner Valley Gas Plant outing

The Turner valley Gas Plant was established in 1924 to process the oil and gas found in the Turner Valley and was the birthplace of Alberta’s petrochemical industry. It under went decades of change and development and is now a Provincial and National Historic Site.

On Saturday, June 11, about 14 members of the Club were given a private 2-hour photo tour of the facilities. Our photographers had a great opportunity to learn about the facilities history and operations and to capture this unique industrial facility from another era. Although the tour was relatively short, a lot of very interesting photos and unique perspectives were captured of the now abandoned architecture and technology. Several members then went on to photograph other locations like Sheep River Falls.
